The Marion County Sheriff’s Department will receive a nearly $500,000 federal grant to go after sex offenders.
Democratic U.S. Rep. Andre Carson announced the Child Sexual Predator Prosecution Program grant Wednesday in a news release. It’s funded by the Justice Department through its Community Oriented Policing Services program.
The grants provide money to help arrest and prosecute child sexual predators and enforce state sex offender registration laws.
The Sheriff’s Department is one of 24 law enforcement agencies in 18 states to be awarded a grant through the program
